Gateway Media Literacy Partners, Inc. Committees
GMLP is committed to supporting and bringing value to our goals and objectives via our committee work.
GMLP committees recommend policy that is subsequently vote on by the entire board.
Our committees ideally use our board members’ best talents and help us maintain diversity of “voice.”
GMLP’s standing committees are included in the GMLP by-laws and have been established to deal with our major activities and issues that affect us and our community for the long-term. Further, the committees deal with efforts that require more time and concentration than what the entire board can give.
Ad-hoc committees deal with short-term activities.
Our committees ideally use our board members’ and other community talents to help us maintain diversity of “voice.”
Committees operate at the board level and meet in between full board meetings. The expectation is, our committee chairs will ensure meeting minutes are taken; this is especially true for the Executive Committee, where decisions are sometimes made in place of a full board meeting, when necessary.
All board members shall understand a committee’s charge
At least two board members shall be on each committee; and non-board volunteers will make up the rest of each committee. The committee chair, each meeting time, will report on the committee’s work since the past board meeting.
GMLP Standing Committees, per GMLP By-Laws

The committee comprises the board chair, other officers and/or committee chairs (or sometimes just the officers).
